About Us: Marie H. Richa
Marie H. Richa
Co-President, Earth our Only Home, Inc.
Marie arrived in Boston by way of Deir-El-Ahmar, a village in northern
Lebanon near the birthplace of the famous poet and philosopher, Khalil
Gibran. Her interest in conservation was inspired by the legendary cedars
of Lebanon which towered in the forest near her family’s farm. There she
and her four brothers and seven sisters learned to live off the land before
moving to the United States when Marie was 14.
Here she studied Business Administration at the Boston Business School
and worked in various administrative, sales and sales management
positions for Boston area businesses. Eventually Marie married and started
a family. She and her husband have two teenagers and a 10-year old and
until now, Marie has dedicated herself entirely to their development and
schooling. Marie speaks English and Arabic fluently.
As a parent invested in her children’s learning, she has always been an
active participant in their schools’ parent organizations. Last year she
served as President of the Parent Council at the Beethoven School where
she met her associates Karen L. Weber and Clydia A. Davenport.
Marie realizes that her children’s urban environment is much different from
her own at their ages and strives to nurture their appreciation for the
natural world. It is Marie’s hope that through her involvement with Earth
Our Only Home, Inc., she can encourage conservation efforts that will
inspire her own children so that their children might grow up in a greener
and more ecologically balanced world.
